Cost: TBC £30.00 per person, proceeds go to Room to Read, a charity promoting education in developing countries
The competition brings together teams from Wharton, Insead, HBS and LBS to taste wines in aid of charity. Hosted by Jancis Robinson, each team of five must work out the grape variety, country, region and vintage of four whites and four reds. it is multiple choice and a team effort - enthusiasm rather than skill a pre-requisite for joining. The winning team receives a bottle each of vintage Pol Roger, the runners up a non-vintage bottle. The event will be followed by a Pol Roger reception and possibly dinner.
The competition is 10 years old and originally featured LBS, HBS and Insead. In our inaugural entry, Wharton had 1 team only and came 2nd out of 12 teams. This year we are planning on entering 3 teams, each composed of 5 team members. You do not need to be an expert oenologist to enter - the main goal of the event is to have a fun evening in good company. We will be forming teams of varying aspirations so look forward to learning your level of wine and blind tasting expertise.
