Welcome by Dr. Harry Brünjes, Chairman of English National Opera

ENO_The_Mikado.jpg

Join alumni from Wharton, Penn, and other Ivy league clubs for an evening of opera -  the Mikado at the London Coliseum. Meet Dr Harry Brünjes, Chairman of ENO, and hear about his involvement and journey to successfully turn around this world-renowned organisation.

The Mikado is one of most famous and best-loved of Gilbert and Sullivan‘s operettas.

Directed by Jonathan Miller and boasting a memorable score, this is a tale that proves resoundingly apt for our moment in time, while remaining wonderfully farcical. The dazzlingly inventive comic opera is packed full of memorable melodies and celebrated moments. Librettist W.S. Gilbert and composer Sir Arthur Sullivan are best known for their fantastical operettas including Iolanthe, The Pirates of Penzance and, of course, The Mikado. The show premiered at London's Savoy Theatre in 1885 and is frequently performed around the world today.

Presented by the English National Opera, co-production with Houston Grand Opera and LA Opera.
