Stuart Horwich, Partner, UK US Tax Services LLP Founder

Stuart is a US lawyer who has spent his career specializing in international tax issues. He has worked for the Department of Justice, the SEC, and he opened the London law office for a US law firm (and he remains of Counsel for a successor firm). Stuart’s client base includes banks, multinational companies and privately held businesses operating in the United States. As an expatriate himself, Stuart fully understands the US and many foreign tax issues associated with living abroad. In addition, he assists US citizens living in the UK and Europe to minimize their overall worldwide tax liability, including in one instance, successfully bringing a refund suit in the United States Court of Federal Claims to obtain a foreign tax credit for a US citizen resident in France.

Stuart is also the founder of The Anglo-American Charitable Foundation Ltd, a charity registered in both the US and UK that facilitates Americans living in the UK to make charitable contributions that qualify for favourable tax treatment in both jurisdictions. A dual citizen of the US and the UK, Stuart has lived in Europe for over 15 years.

Kristopher Heck, Managing Partner, Tanager Wealth Management LLP

Kristopher has lived in London since 2007, having moved over with his employer on a two-year expat contract. Life as an expat was so fulfilling, he immediately knew that this is where he wanted to live permanently.  His experience includes 10 years in the Institutional Asset Management industry in the US & Europe, where he helped financial advisors build optimal portfolio solutions for their clients. He combined this professional experience with his own personal experience as a US expat to found Tanager. Kris has spoken at industry conferences on topics including portfolio construction, investment opportunities, and taxation of client portfolios, and has been a guest lecturer at the London School of Economics. He has particular interest and experience in portfolio efficiency – encompassing tax, cost, and the optimal risk budgeting of a client’s assets.
