FINAL CALL

NOW OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS

Given the high demand we have seen (and sell-out) of the previous National Gallery tour we hosted, dedicated to the Impressionists, we are now hosting a tour dedicated to fashion and style across the collection with our beloved guide Muriel! This time we will be looking at a chosen selection of paintings from a fresh angle: our tour will be an exploration of changing styles and lifestyles, fireworks of textures and textiles, a lesson in power dressing and a close study of the art of portrait painting. From medieval glam by Jan van Eyck to the first bathing suits under the brush of Edgard Degas, we will be relishing the way artists have painted fashion. We will be looking at hemlines and waistlines, ruffs and cuffs, hooks and hoops, bonnets and corsets and at how artists, from the early Renaissance masters to the post-Impressinists, have added their stylish touch to the long history of fashion.
For those who want to embrace more Friday night experience at the National Gallery, we will have access to the new Giorgio Locatelli restaurant inside the member's Supporters House. If you would like to join this group dinner after the tour and if you have any questions about this event - please reach out to [email protected]
Please note that given the restrictions of the venue - the group will be limited to strictly 25 people. The tour duration will be 90mins.
